Hans-Jorg Bullinger is the former President of German research organisation Fraunhofer Gesellschaft.

Beginning his career by studying mechanical engineering, he subsequently became the Head of Corporate Planning at Fraun-hofer IPA.  After this, in 1980, the University of Hagen appointed him a Professor of Industrial Science and Human Engineering. He next became Director of the newly founded Fraun-hofer IAO and the year after this the University of Stuttgart also appointed him as a Professor of Industrial Science and Technology Management.

In 2002 Bullinger ascended to President of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft where he stayed until 2012.  He consequently joined the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Senate to make decisions regarding basic scientific and research policy.
